It can be quite confusing when you’re trying to write your CV. Too much information!! Unfortunately, a lot of this FREE advice is flawed and misdirects job seekers. They end up spending more time on Canva than they do on writing impactful content, or they start using ChatGPT to write content, only to end up with robotic and bland content that doesn’t stand out
Here are 10 simple CV writing tips that can help you
- Your CV should be 2-pages or less (there are only a handful of exceptions)
- Ensure all key information is on the first page, otherwise it won’t be read
- Use bullet points! (I love bullet points)
- Start all bullet points with an action verb
- Keep bullet points SUCCINT (you are not writing a thesis)
- Focus on highlighting achievements, NOT duties or responsibilities
- You MUST have a strong professional summary
- DON’T include words like MOTIVATED in your professional summary
- Keep the layout SIMPLE, easy to read and navigate
- White space is great!!
